# Fated

> Fated is an AI fortune-telling (Saju, Korean Four Pillars) app for iOS, Android, the web, Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch, in 53 languages. The natal chart is computed by a solar-term calibrated calendar engine; AI writes only the interpretation. It is not a just-for-fun horoscope: the same birth date and time always yields the same chart.

## What Fated is

- Reach: members were born in 40 different countries (as of 2026-09). The landing page shows this as a world map. The figure counts country of birth, which is what the app asks for and what the Saju chart needs, not country of residence.
- Operator lineage: the operator started the fortune service Shinsunet (신수넷) in 2002 and has been running fortune services since. Shinsunet served readings written in advance by a person; Fated has AI write them. The old readings were not carried over and were not used to train the AI.

## How it works (the part that makes it precise)

- The chart itself (stems, branches, five elements) is computed by deterministic calendar code. AI takes no part in deriving it, so identical birth data always gives an identical chart.
- Month pillar: set from the 24 solar terms, corrected by longitude.
- Day and hour pillars: set by the true solar time of the birthplace, so people born outside Korea get a correct chart.
- Leap months are handled. Birth time and birthplace are both required.
- AI interprets only on top of the fixed chart. General-purpose LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) infer the chart in prose rather than computing it, so at leap months and solar-term boundaries the chart itself can drift.
- No hit-rate percentage is claimed. What is claimed is that the chart is computed, not guessed.

## Watch apps

- Released 2026-09-10 for Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch. The watch app comes with the phone app from the same store listing; there is nothing extra to buy.
- Apple Watch: watchOS 10 or later, which means Series 4 and later (including SE and Ultra).
- Galaxy Watch: Wear OS 3 or later, which means Galaxy Watch4 and later.
- Five things you can do on the wrist:
  - Yut divination: flick your wrist and the watch throws three Yut sticks, three times. That draws one line of the I Ching, and the server sends back the reading in your app language. Once a day; the result stays on the watch tile and complication until midnight.
  - AI fortune consultation: ask aloud. The AI answers from your computed Saju chart, the full answer is shown on the watch, and subscribers can play it as server-synthesised speech. It uses the same daily limit as the phone, and the answer is kept in the phone's consultation history too.
  - Check-in: spin the roulette for points and a streak count.
  - My talisman: send a talisman from the phone and keep it on your wrist. On Galaxy Watch it can sit in a tile, which reads the cached image with no network.
  - Bump: two people touch wrists, the server pairs them by time and place, and each side sees a compatibility score read from the two charts. A Galaxy Watch and an Apple Watch can bump each other. Nothing about the encounter is stored.
- Sign-in happens on the phone. The watch has no login screen at all — the phone hands it the token, the chosen app language and the subscription state.
- The watch follows the app language chosen on the phone, not the watch system locale.
- The watch never shows a good-or-bad verdict computed by the program. Only chance (the Yut throw) and facts. A daily luck score derived from the calendar was considered and deliberately left out.

## Privacy

- The operator does not read users' consultations or results.
